The holsets can hold 32psi and be good to go...
Plate was stock, only mods I had done at that point were BHAF, straight exhaust, and starwheel cranked up. But the starwheel shouldnt have an effect on max boost, as the starwheel only affects low boost fueling, and not overall fueling

dude, all the power recipes are easy with a 12v more timing, more fuel, better flow, it's all in your hands, there are countless threads and even tech articles on the subject, first and foremost get rid of the egr system, it's doing all of no good, then get gauges/exhaust/BHAF and then play with the pump and the afc housing and whatever else, but start with the basics, intake and exhaust will help alot, but you gotta start with getting rid of that stupid EGR system, nothing good can come from it

I agree, the starwheel only controls when the turbo actually lights. Not boost amount.

Why tune for 25psi when these turbos dont really rock until 30-32psi? You dont always need to stare at a boost gauge once you get your boost dialed in with the boost elbow. There is NOTHING you can just set-and-forget without out FIRST dialing it in. Once you dial in the boost elbow, you dont need to mess with it anymore. But once you start modding, boost and egt are somethings that DO need to be monitored.

Its like beating a dead horse...
Smoke is not power... in the end it sounds like your on the exspensive side of the diesel world as far as repairs go. All your after is smoke and the cheapest way to it. All the things your doing to your truck just to see smoke is hard on it, like lugging it around a bunch and etc. Your complaining because a stock 12 valve is slow... wake up man they werent race cars, they were built to pull. Yes they can be fast, pull a whole lot more, and be a blast to drive, but your not after that. Use the seach button man, you will possibly learn something. Your smoke addiction is what is giving this sport/hobby etc a bad name. Everytime you blow a cloud of smoke thinking its cool and making no power doing it, it makes someone mad. Do some reading and learn about the nature and how the 12 valve works, and possibly diesels for that matter.
Alot can be done to have great power but with what sound like a budget of nothing your going to need some sense about it. Grind your plate, tune your afc, get a boost elbow, some governor springs, exhaust, and air filter setup and you have a pretty decent truck that will make good power for not a whole lot of money and suprise suprise it will probably smoke a little but in moderation. If all your after is smoke, pull the plate and afc, unhook the intercooler boot and have at it man....

My stock 12 valve is pretty peppy

But that could have something to do with the 1/2 ton body and 30 inch tires

I like smoke as much as the next guy and anyone who says they hate it are fibbin a bit, but it needs to be done properly, if you don't have the money for the "power" you're going to need the money for an engine or a transmission if you just lug it around to get smoke, you'll burn something up, what do i know though, not a whole lot, but i've replaced enough parts to know you can't just do the stuff that makes it smoke or whatever your goal is without it being hard on many other components, so long post short, if you don't have the money don't do anything to it, until you have the money to do it properly

If you dont have money for power... In my opinion you dont have money for smoke. The way you plan on making smoke is gonna be exspensive. I will promise you that. Just my .02
Im not saying i dont like smoke, its fun from time to time but you have to think about our hobby. Im not some 40 year old guy griping at you like im your dad. Im only 19 but i have come to learn that what your after is not gonna be good. Im just trying to help you and our hobby but hey...
