Default Quick Question.

Which truck/brand/engine, would be best for a normal daily driver that loves trucks and drives a lot. Which engines are the most reliable from each company but i wouldn't want a truck that's too old either.

The 5.9 Cummins has proven reliability, good mileage, and cheap parts.

as they said^ you cant beat cummins in the overall longevity or parts. but for daily driving and mielage a 03 or newer duramax would be best. the allison will not fail you vs the cummins( unless you go manual) the duramax has the biggest stock turbo and is very reliable. the parts are a little more but worth it.

fella the fact is all of these trucks... dodge, chevy, ford-cummins, duramax, powerstroke are good reliable engines. however.. if you make very much more than stock horespower the trannys will fail you. we need more info partner.. cuz i know of a few guys with 500+ hp daily drivers. so the real question is what kinda power are you wanting and what are you gonna use it for??? because a stock truck is a stock truck anyway ya look at it...and a stock diesel truck (if cared for properly) will last till the sky falls and the cows come home... we're all about modification here hoss... so the real question stems from what your plans are for whichever you purchase??? then i feel as a diesel community we can help to better answer your question..

The most i might be planning to do as of right now, would be intake and exhaust. idk what else? Not much really i know mods give higher mpg on diesels but that would have to wait till later on.

so basically your jus wanting a daily driver all around... well im a dodge guy so a cummins would be top of MY list. however the fords are nice as far as creature comforts. and the duramax's aren't bad either. but like i said before... an exhaust and intake are hardly enough to jeprodize a truck as far as reliability is concerned. with exhaust intake and i'd even sugest using a mild tune, from a well known company such as bullydog, your truck would run wonderfully with minor smoke and improved mpg. if those are the only things your plannin then fella you simply cant go wrong with anny of the big three. i'd say at this point it comes down to YOUR personal preference as to which one you choose... so good luck and keep the shiny side up
