the 12 valve has a lot more power potential for less money than the 24 valves do. but the 24's have a better flowing head design. if you keep your eyes open just about every puller that has a cummins is a 12valve engine with the P7100 injection pump. they are a big deal

from what all i know of them, the 12v's are the nonelectronic ones, and the big majority of the 24v's have some sort of electronics on them

yea the 12valves are non electronic engines while the 24's are dont get me wrong a 24 will make a whole lot of power but it just takes more money to do it. if you want a puller you cant go wrong with a 12valve. look for a 94-98 dodge they have the p7100 pump. if you can find a 96-98 12 valve they have the 215 horse pump on them but it has to be a manual trans for that pump. go for that or a 24 valve Common Rail they are beasts too mostly plug and play.

what can you do with the 12 valves then to get more power other than a fass system or something like that?

you can tweak the internals on the pump its self. the fass really doesnt help with power it just gives a constant supply of fuel to the pump. go into the dodge section and under 12 valve p7100 aftermarket.
