Default looking at first gen cummins

hey guys im looking at buying a diesel but on a low budget. im pretty set on a 12 valve. any info on pros and cons and easy upgrades for the first gen cummins would be appreciated

I would not trade mine for the world I love it. Cheap and easy to mod also.

how abou mileage the first gens what do you guys get with what setup?

I get around 20 locally with the mods in my sig if I am nice to it

You are right about the 12v Good engine easy to turn up............But the pickup is another story... this is the case where the engine makes the pickup

That's an old wive's tale started by somebody who didn't know how to change a light bulb.

My 91.5 is in better shape than when it left the factory. And I'm not talking about the engine, either. Everything works, power windows, heater, AC, etc. Probably has the same R12 in there it left the factory with. Once you address a few minor electrical issues they are as good as anything out there, including the new trucks.

When I need an exceptionally high degree of confidence in getting where I'm going, I take the 1st Gen.
