Default Ford or dodge??

I am need a diesel again so Im back to my faithful ol gasser and I'm gettin tired of not blowin smoke and the loud noise. SO my big question is Im looking to find a 89-94 1st gen or a 88-94.5 7.3. I like the 12v because you have a lot more options that the idi's so I can pull 60 psi and lay down good numbers on power. And have more options of performance parts. But on the other hand I love Ford will be a ford man till the day I die. I love the ol' school 7.3 Been raised around them and seen nothin but success with them. I like the 7.3 cause there different you show up to a dyno in a ol idi and lay down some serious power with that old motor. But then again you don't have alot of performance options but when you can find some there harder than hell to find and research. So what is yal input about Dodge or Ford. The old school IDI or the faithful cummins???

Flip a coin. The 7.3 is a very good engine but so is the Cummins. If you where just driving the truck ether is fine. If you are wanting a heavily modified power house its hard to beat the Cummins.

i know what ur talkin about ive been raised around fords all my life my dad have a 96 ford 7.3 i owned two ford gassers and one dodge gaser before getting my o1 24v. the 7.3s are a great engine ats has a turbo kit for the idis but i have nevr seen one put 500 on a dyno. the first gens ive seen 500 with the rotarty pump and much more with the ppump but its ur choice i guess it depends on what u want to do with it. either way u cant go wrong. anyway hope this helped.

That did help 24v. But I can pick up 6.9's and 7.3's 4x4 alll day long for about 2 grand and cheaper. But I'm not sure how much I can get cummin's 4x4(I need 4x4 thats a must) I would like a x-tra cab but straight cab will do . My buddy picked up a cummins extra cab 2x4 for 800. I won't mind drive up california or to nevada or arizona if any yal know any one who has one for sale I can come up with 3500 at max. Any one wanna sell a cummins

It's soooo easy laying down power with the cummins. And they get amazing mileage.

But I've also owned 6 fords, including a 7.3 6spd f250 and loved every single one of them.

like I tell me wife; hate the dodge, love the cummins. Though all joking aside my 12v was a great truck aside from me being a dummy and not realize I bought a lemon.
