Hi, I've been looking around for a nice tow rig for a while now and I found a 1982 Chevy dually with the 6.2l... I dont know if its just Bias or if theres a difference but ive heard the 6.2 is the one to have rather then the 6.5...anyway the downside is it "needs tranny work" I dont know how extensive the work is yet but im looking for a rough estimate of how much a tranny rebuild would cost OR what the best tranny would be to fit to the 6.2l and how much it would be (That is probly a more answerable question then the first)...The towing im looking to do is a light toy hauler with 2 dune buggies in it to pismo and if anyone knows the road 101 through san luis obispo...that is a tough hill without the right vehicle (1996 Chevy tahoes tranny hit 280 degrees and 28 mph's by the top) and some easy towing on the freeway.

Any info on what kinda tranny would be best for a stock 6.2l would be helpful

u might want to post this question in the chevy section of the forum, might get some better hits in that section about the trans. imo, by the time u buy the truck, put the money in the trans, u would probablyu be able to get a decent price on a dodge with the cummins motor, and have a truck that handles pulling better. jmo good luck with it though

 

well. I would love a cummins but... they never made a 4 door...or atleast I've never found one so I've been looking for something along the lines of ford and chevy duallys...correct me if I'm wrong but searching on ebay and crageslist I've never seen one older then about 2000 that was 4 door
