Question about Diesel and advice
Ok so here it is. It is all in how the truck is treated. If you thrash your truck day in and day out it will have problems. People say the 6.0 is a bad engine but there are people out there that have absolutely no problems with them. It really is your decision. If you are going to get a Ford I would recommend a 7.3L truck but like stated earlier check out the suspension. because the TTB front end on the mid-late 90s Fords are not very good for a lot of people. a 7.3 gets pretty good mileage and a 5.9 cummins gets pretty good mileage. I would probably say the cummins has a little better mileage but not that much. The Ford, by far, IMO has a much better interior but again thats personal preference.
Like stated previously, just drive a few and see what you like. Then buy one and bomb it. ha
oh and back to price. if you are going to bomb the truck you might want to get a cummins because it is expensive to bomb a powerstroke.

by bomb you mean? yeah i know the fords have a way better body and interior, but my problem is then. finding a 7.3?
For a daily driver it really won't matter what you pick as you won't be hauling anything anyways... As for expense....dude, it's a diesel...it costs 2x as much to fix at minimum over a gasoline engine... You have to pay to play.
If you want a cheap DD, get a 12V Cummins.

i know it costs 2x more but how frequently will i be paying that if i just drive normally all the time. How likely is something to mess up without hauling anything.
by bomb I mean what this site is really about its called diesel bombers. bomb-best off modified baby. meaning you are going to mod your truck in some way to increase power
The fords have nicer interior and yes the 7.3 IMO is the best powerstroke. Cummins is easy to bomb (turn up the power) over the rest. For a daily driver it doesnt matter just get one you like. They will all have a problem(s) no matter which one you get. You are not going to get one that will last longer than the other. If something can go wrong it will and if its not going wrong already then it is or will be soon. Its just a way of life and it depends on how the person before you treated the truck.
PS
The injection pumps in the older 12v run about 8-14k+ I believe, depending on which one you get.
