Default Purchase truck

I totaled my 2004 F350 6.0 Liter Diesel. I was VERY unhappy with it. It had only 78,000 miles on it at death but I had blown head gaskets, multiple sensor replacements, and other STUPID issues which ended up costing me lots of money after the warranty period.

I tow a big fifth whell RV that my wife and I live in and I need a reliable and lower cost truck to tow with. Any great ideas?

Leon

Research my friend

I've been here and another forum for a while and have been reading a lot.

It seems the Ford's have an inordinate amount of trouble with the 6.0 and heads, etc.

Then again, if you read on, you'll find people that gripe about transmission problems with the Dodges?

I know guys that have over 150-200k on thier fords with little to no problems. Same with the Dodge.

The bottom line is, they all have thier issues and as with any vehicle, it's a crap shoot whether you get a lemon or a peach.

Now...here's a though for ya.

I"ve seen where some have put the Cummins in the Ford and get the best of both worlds

Best of luck with the new vehicle, whichever way you go.

Alot of 6.0 fords have alot of issues. A manual dodge has a bullet proof engine and with a clutch swap they have a bullet proof tranny in most applications but they are expensive frontends to replace. But the Dmax is a good puller and has the best auto tranny and the best ride with its IFS. I'd test drive both(cummins/dmax) see which one you prefer.
