That is if you're talking Dodge anyways. I don't know if it's the same way with the others.
Yes...but if you overload a 2500 to a 3500's GVW and they catch you at the scale I heard the fines are pretty nasty.

the only draw back I will say is traction, you will need a lot of weight to get rear traction. My fear for winter, but I got enough tractor weights.(yes, I have had 2 4wd dually's and they are not comparable to SRW for snow/wetness,etc.) For a large camper, a must. I am not going to spend any more on tires than a 4 wheeler, tires are smaller and can last longer. Mine rides better than the Z71 I traded in.

Something else to look at is the possibility of worse mileage if you run it as a daily driver. More rotating mass to get going, worse aerodynamics.

I get the same mileage as my 2500 I traded in, I can not tell any difference plus a bigger fuel tank. Daily driver 13-14, town and 8 mile commute. 18-22 freeway.

I sold my 05 SRW and bought myself a 3500 DRW and i love it. I use it as a daily driver too. I get better mileage too with my 05 i got 10-14 in town, dually i get 13-16,highway with the 05 i got 16-18, dually i get 18-21. I also like it when driving in the city i have always had a bigger truck so i don't have aproblem with the widths and i always park far from the store cause idiots like to door ding people so parking a ways away prevents that too. Go with a DRW and you will like it but good luck to you which ever way you go.

DRW. if your going to be pulling a camper or anything that will sway back and forth the wider the stance the more stable. That and in my little world a dually just has that cool factor a swr doesnt.

ps. yeah snow does suck though....well so i've heard.

I have owned and driven dually's since the early 70's before they were "cool" and love them and still have 3 of them and like my 2002 cummins the best, and here's the "but" it is true that buying tires hurts the wallet more (your buying 2 extra tires), and in slick conditions you need good tires and weight in the back (I run studded tires all the way around, you can do that here in Wyoming), I have a tool box and a 100 gallon fuel tank that I keep full in the winter for added weight = traction, and lastly they don't get quit as good of fuel milage, about 1 mpg or so less. But and what I use them for the pro's such as stability and load carrying capacity far out way the con's. I would like to have a SRW Diesel just for driving the wheels off of
