Hi guys...first of all, thank you for the warm welcome! Great looking & friendly site

I have a 97 Ford F-250 7.3 diesel...I have had blow by for a little while - which I have been told is bad oil rings - and I need a new motor...but I can't afford a new engine...so I keep him full of oill...and have taken care of "Whitey" the best I can. But the other day, he decided not to start....I have fuel (the first question most might ask me)...it originally gave a cam positioning sensor code...we replaced the cam positioning sensor with a new one...we have checked the fuel pump, put in a new fuel filter (just for the sake of it was time - not that it looked too bad), checked the HPOP, and computer. He rolls over but won't start....anybody got any ideas?

It's possible the rings went completely. One thing I may suggest is have a compression test done.

 

my uncles 97 done something similar to this, and it turned out to be the ecm. got it to fire up right away. easy way to check is find a friend with a 97 and swap the ecm and see if it fires up. good luck figurein it out

 

10-4, thanks for the feedback...is the ECM the metal box mounted on the firewall on the drivers side? If it was the rings going all together - would it have given any other warning signs?

 

i believe so, it was at brians truck shop and cale had one there and swapped it out. truck was on a trailer and i was standing on the ground.
