welcome to db

for 425, id say dodge would be the most reliable, but with that much no matter the brand, u will be looking at tranny upgrades. good luck with the search

if you want cheap power buy a 12v cummins, say far away from the fords,as far as the best 24v they are all good but from 98.5-04 you will need and air dog 150 on it because the stock lift pumps are junk.

IMO, the '03 dodges and past are a good bet. They dont have all the same issues that plagued the 2nd gen, but still have the reliability of the cummins. What's your price range? That can be a big deciding factor as well

I wouldn't go with a 04 dodge they have plastic intercooler ends and have been known to come apart with higher boost levels. I'd say a 03 or 04.5 or newer and I think some of the 03-05 HO's models don't have catalytic converters. To get to 425 in a common rail Cummins (03 or newer) is pretty easy probably intake, exhaust and a good programmer or chip but you'll definitely need to upgrade the transmission and get a set of gauges.
