Default I'm going to buy a diesel and have done quite a bit of research, help me pick?

Here's what I'm looking for:

I'm going to use it as my daily driver, and about 15 times a year to tow my 24ft racecar trailer with, usually about 150 miles round trip.

I'd like something with good MPG, but that's not my first priority as I'm sure it won't be worse than my 15/7mpg avg around town and towing I get with my Ecoboost F150.

I'd like a halfway sporty looking truck, with not too many bells and whistles that can break. Maybe a 2000-2004, that's very reliable and not all tricked out. I don't care how fast it is, or how much mud I can drive through (I must be getting older at a ripe old 31!!) I'd like to spend around $13,000-$18,000. My idea is I'll keep it for 4-5 years as my daily driver and then retire it to a summer and racecar tow vehicle only.

I'm leaning toward the Duramax, but I've read that injector failure is almost a certainty with them. I don't think I'd dare get a 6.0 Powerstroke after the year of research I've done. The Cummins looks enticing too, but I've heard the bodies just fall apart. I'm not sure how well informed I am or how much is true, that's why I've came here. I'd do a 7.3 Powerstroke if I could find one in good shape too.

My next question is, are there any REPUTABLE companies that offer a powertrain warranty I can keep on my used diesel?

Thanks a ton for your input!!
