Do you guys any of the cabs in high end trim levels are "bad"? I have an 03 dodge laramie QC with powers seats, leather, dual control temp zones. The only thing extra i would like is a back up camera for a trailer. Sunroof might be nice. The back seat folds up for storage. Hell theres even a storage bin under the middle front seat that's under the console and it's massive. From what I've seen the Fords and the Chevy get pretty plush too. Didn't they even put duramax's in the GMC? They would be like a lifted caddy. I hear people knocking the dodge interior but Im about as comfortable has being on a couch. Maybe I'm not as picky.

I had a 99 powerstroke and a 2000 Dodge cummins.

The better truck by far was the Dodge, and not just because of the motor. I do a lot off off road driving across pastrures section lines. The Ford front end didn't last ball joints and sloppy steering.
The Dodge was also better on Fuel.

Your just gonna have to go and test drive one, But just for consideration the cummins is gonna be cheaper the repair, rather than the stroker and d maxs with the exception of the injection pump thats a good chunk of change...

**** me, I just got some replies after several weeks. I won't be doing any towing whatsoever, I do about 50/50 highway/city driving so I want something really comfortable. I go on a dirt road maybe once every 2 months but I never take my **** mudding. I also don't romp on it. I accelerate easily and never floor it.

I am driving a Jeep ZJ with the 318 and 240k miles on it and have had it for quite a while. Most people would have destroyed it by now but I could take it a long way more.

I have had a chance to drive both a Cummins and Powerstroke so far and liked both of them, but the Cummins I drove had cloth seats and they were rather uncomfortable. My back is kind of finicky which is why I like leather seats. The ones in my Jeep are comfortable as can be. I drove a couple Strokes and one was the Lariat and the leather seats in those were quite comfortable.

I am really on the fence about the Duramax just because I have heard quite a few horror stories about fuel getting in the crank case and fudging up the engine. One of my buddies told me I should look into the 6.5l since I don't need horsepower or do any towing. They seem like they might be ok, but I cannot find one for sale within several hundred miles of me. I have heard they are extremely sensitive engines though and require absolutley meticulous maintainence.

Cummins are almost impossible to find and when I do find them they go for about 2k over NADA value which is what the bank goes off of, meaning they are going to be nearly impossible to finance. Duramax and Strokes usually go for a bit lower than book value in my state just because everyone wants the damn Cummins.

Dodge and the Cummins are good trucks but if you do alot of driving. nothing beats the King Ranch or lariat. and they are cheaper to run and fix as the parts are all over the place. there is no shortage of Ford super dutys out there.

My vote is for cummins but I'm a bit partial to them
