Question 98 12v Cummins 4x4 5spd 3500, right price?

I just checkout out a truck today, a 1998' Extended Cab (with half doors) long bed dually with 4.10 gears. It has the 12v Cummins, with 281,xxx miles on it, with a Cummins Exhaust brake and 5 speed transmission. Never had any mods done to it, completely stock. T-case shifts smooth, transmission shifts smooth. Engine sounds good.

The bad: Needs a new a/c pump, dash is cracked, paint is alright condition. Valve cover gasket, timing cover gasket and oil pan gasket all need to be replaced, along with the t-case leaking as well. little dings in the body and bed here and there, the dually fenders are slightly loosing adhesion on the bed, along with one side being cracked. I also checked back pressure, by removing the oil fill cap, no real pressure at all is coming out, but you can easily see smoke haze exiting, and when closed, and crawling under the truck, you can see steady smoke exiting the vented hose off the tappet cover.

The seller is asking $12,000. I feel like that is over priced, what would be a fair price for this truck?

and what do you think about the smoke exiting the engine?

so the smoke means the pistons rings are done huh? I know it wasn,t a lot, and it didnt bounce the cap on when just set on the top, but I never remembered my old 12v smoking like that. I wasn't sure if that much was normal or not.

Thanks though, I wont be buying it then. Unless anyone else has words of advice?
