Going To Need A Sunfire Forum Here..
Things are all ready starting , and ive got questions....like why does the tensoner belt make a mean belt skweeling sound when the motor is hot....and the starters not engaging right way...just started, well i only had it for like 10 hours max and it did it.....
95 sunfire.. 2.2L.. motors in sideways,, tensoner belt isnt going to be easy to get at..everything is so compact........[!---]#] <<<pic of moter
It feels like im at one with the pavement its so low.....can i put a lift kit in it..
I like to be higher..

Im going to replace the roters in the brakes, that will stop the vibration on the front end.. have a new belt, nothing is worn, so it doesnt look outta line, just vibrates, and the IE teeth..?? is that for thet starting problem? im going to get a book on it, so i can understand the fuel injection better..

It wouldn't surprise me if the starter drive is going. The starter turns but the gear isn't getting pushed out into the nose to contact the flex wheel. I've replaced a lot of starters of this vintage for that problem. It's either this or what wildbill said. You should pray that I'm right.
You should grab the tensioner and see if there's a lot of play in it. If you can move it around by hand then it's shot. You may also have the tensioner pulley bearing going south on you. Take the belt off and wiggle the pulley to see if it's loose and then spin it by hand to see if it sounds funky.

ok theres no grinding noise, yet!! the starter doesnt keep turning, just takes like 30 secs before it engages.. Im going to post pics, the engine is filthy( im so embarassed) but i will be cleaning it right away, every thing i touch in there i just get black. Gross!!..I waxed it, and did the carpets and seats last night though the out side and interior are really clean

The starter is still grinding my gears. Does it click before it engages? Like you have to turn the key to start a bunch of times and all it wants to do is click before it engages? If so, there is a plastic cap on the end of the solenoid that houses all the contacts. One of em is worn. You can flip the contacts, but since you have to drop the starter anyway, might as well replace the whole thing.

nope no clicking . and the belt is tight...nothing moves. nothing frayed, or shredded, or shinny. thats all good, but there is a spare in the trunk.
It hasnt made that noise today . I guess it never got hot enough? Power steering pump, was another suggestion on the noise.
