well here it is. my birthday present to myself. it's an 87 4runner. completely stock with 230K on the ticker. i got it for $500!!! i think that was a steal. head gasket is gone so i'm yanking the motor. gonna go thru it, add an rv cam and go from there.

i thought i'd start this thread. post pics as i go. taking suggestions for upgrades. especially cool mods on the cheap.

 

add a 12 valve cummins

 

Instead of a 5.9 just drop in a 3.9L.

 

thought's crossed my mind more than once believe me. just got all my motor parts in last night for it. got a torker cam so i'll be pushing a neck snapping 120-130 hp when i get it all together.

 

roll a set of 2.5 ton rockwells under it.........:hyper:

didn't toyota have a diesel?

 

it's a 4. they had a turbo diesel for a couple years. i think some were even introduced here. haven't found any local tho.

 

yes toyota did have a diesel out but not for long.....i think 85 was the last year for it....

 

they had a turbo gas too in some of the pickups i believe.
or jamb a 7mgte supra engine in there.
