Thinking about buying an ex military 4x4 truck, anybody else have a off raod toy like that or know anybody that does? Most of them are 84-86 chevy's with a 6.2 diesel. Any thoughts good or bad would be helpfull.

Here is a before and after shot of the old military blazer with a 6.2 diesel that my Jeep Club, Northern Minnesota Jeepers, built up for the Gilbert, MN police.

It did get all modern police equipment installed along with a LED lightbar. They use it regularly, mostly in the wintertime.

Uses a 4 inch suspension lift, 33 or 35s can't remember, club made front and rear bumpers, all body panels replaced, professional paint job and decal work, winch, full tune up on engine and drivetrain. Project took about 8 months of volunteer hours in a club member's personal shop.

That was a real nice build. I ended up not getting a old 6.2 cause everybody wanted too much for what I was wanting to put in a mud rock toy build. Here's what I got.

The 6.2 isn't much to brag about. We have them in all our humvee's, and I have nothing to say except "gutless." I will admit, they take a hell of a beating. We are not easy on anything.
