Default Went off roading in my truck today

Me and a couple of my buddies went up in one of the many canyons in Teton Valley, Idaho yesterday. I gotta say I was impressed by what this truck can do and I also figured out that low range doesn't work worth a crap in mud. But the trails in these canyons can get kinda tricky and nasty. This truck has the torque to go just about anywhere, I just need some new tires so I can get traction. I was kinda worried about my D44HD TTB front end but it seemed to do just fine. And this was my first time off roading in a stick shift and I'll admit if I get the money to build a play rig, its going to be an auto. We even used my truck to push a fallen tree out of the way enough for me to get around it then I used my truck as a skidder and pulled it up off the trail. One of my buddies just bought an 82 s-10 with a 2.8L in it that he is going to build for off roading. Even for stock it was keeping up with mine and my other buddies 81 GMC 3/4 ton. Both of them got high centered on the same little hill but in different spots because it stretched across the whole trail. I was the only one that didn't get stuck or anything. We did get to one spot where it was pretty steep and just too slick for us to keep going. The trail we were on was pretty mild so maybe I'll go back out tomorrow and get some pics of it and my rig since I didn't take any yesterday.

Here's a few pics of my truck on the trail when I went back out this afternoon, nothing spectacular.

Yeah, its nice to have someplace that's not so hardcore for the beginners/stockers and as soon as I get money for tires I'll be putting some nice mudders on it, not sure what yet though. That's too bad its such a long drive. We need more people to come with us.

Well, my trucks not built like your 6.9 , plus this is a pretty well traveled and easy trail. I've taken an 02-03 chevy crew cab longbox up this trail with no problems other than rubbing bottom on the tank traps that have been put in. Next time I go up to Mud Lake I'll have to get some pics. Its still an easy trail up to the lake but after that it can get pretty tough, narrow trails between trees, really slick nasty mud, fallen trees, don't really have much for rocks in the places I've been except for the first part of the trail to Mud Lake but its still nothing hardcore. I took my last truck up there which was an extended cab longbox 92 F250 and it did just fine. Since my friends are getting out of school this week I'm sure we'll be going out more very shortly and will get more pics on hopefully some harder stuff.

As for the pretty country, I live in probably one of the prettiest parts of this side of the country, in the shadow of the Tetons. I'm just across the border from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I personally think its lost its awe and beauty by living here but it has its moments. The area is a nice place to have a vacation at.

still waiting for sky manufacturings shackle flip kit to arrive. once i get that i can bolt the shackles back on, shorted brake lines, remount shocks. then take measurments to get steel ordered for the bed.

That looks like some fun times. I like to every now and then get out on some easier trails and fire roads. It's nice from time to time to not have to work hard to go offroading even in my crawler.
