Look up Posi-Lok! I am having the same problems. I have found the kit for my 99 2500 for around $180. Then you have the option for 2Lo as well. It is a cable replacement for the vacuum system

Like he said. It eliminates the the two piece long-side shaft (and junk CAD) with a single piece axle shaft. Your truck's front axle would then behave like the 2003 and above H.D. Rams, which do not have a disconnecting front axle.

The NonCad axle actually started in 02 and the mileage difference probably won't be that big. Maybe 1mpg or so. Is it a difference? yes but depending on how many miles you put on your truck it won't be that big.

I.E. Over 25,000 mi at 4.00 Diesel you'd loose about $416.40

My bad. I thought the non-cad front axle started when the 3rd gen Heavy Duty's came out in 2003.

Which free-spin kit you decide on? EMS or looking at Solid or DynaTrac??
