Default Should I have got busted?

This happened a year or so a go but I'm bored and wanted to see what people say. So here's the story:
I was workin on the house I had just bought and got a call from a buddy if he could use my truck to pull out some friends that were muddin and got stuck. I told him I'd just come over and try it out myself. So I get there and the two boys were idiots and were muddin in a field at the end of a development and it had rained pretty good a day before. One boy had a jeep and other a dodge 1500 and I had my old 97 powerstroke. The boy in jeep was completely buried so I tried yankin him out. After diggin some nice ruts I unhooked to get better spot. So went and was gettin ready to hook up and sure enough about five state troopers pull up and this is on a dead end road so only one way out which was blocked. Unfortunately for me I took my truck out couple days before so it was still covered. So cops get out of course walk up to my truck first lookin at everything then see the two boys stuck. So after some arguin the cops take us threes info and everything told us that we are goin to be charged with something. I plead that I was just tryin to help out but since I dug ruts that was enough for them to charge me. The farmer whose field it was didn't care that the boys were back there. But sure enough couple days later I get letter sayin I been charged with trespassing with motorized vehicle and bout 200$ fine. I want to know since the farmer didn't care how could we have been charged? And should I have just plead not guilty? Thankfully them two boys paid the fine for me but still

I would have went to the farmer and said what is the deal? If he didn't mind them being there then he should have say whether or not you would be charged. But hindsight is 20/20.

I have had my fair share of run ins with the law in my younger days and i have seen it all. A buudy of mine got a tresspassing ticket on a farm he worked on when we were deer hunting and got the truck stuck. Someone driving by called it in and since the boss man had it posted they issued him a ticket while the boss man was right there telling the cop it was ok. Also saw another buddy get a drunk in public on his own property because he was making himself visable to public and was drunk. Apparently you can only drink indoors in Cali, totally opposite from Wisconsin thats for sure.

Yea something's are just better left alone, if we started on about the law and how messed up everything is this would turn into a pretty long thread. I don't think they should have gave you a ticket but if there was 5 state boys there they probably didn't have anything else going on.
