Question Winch! What size?
I want a winch for hunting and farm work. I was wondering if 12k would be enough for all things I might tackle?

Should be close. I once heard that the rule of thumb is having the pulling power equal to double the weight of your vehicle. Straight line pull or doubled up. You truck probably comes in around 7,500lbs.

I guess I need a 15000 pound winch then. Guess I'll keep looking.

The one you were looking at, is it 12k single line? IF so, it would yield 24K double line. Unless you plan to get buried in mud so deep you can't open the doors, 12k should do fine.

If you get a winch make sure your winch mount is up to the pulling strength of the winch.
I have seen once a bent winch mount- not very funny.

12,000 lb Warn has served me well....as said you can always use a ****** block.
