LMM mods for mileage

Banks system with their dpf back setup, air intake, and 6 gun system claim maybe 2mpg improvement. Check out or call Banks on that. Anything else like a turboback system with a programmer will most likely cause warranty lose. On the LMM the ECM records that the tune has been changed and a new CVN number. If the numbers don't match what stock calibrations can be then they now it has had a non stock tune. It records the last 10 different tunes.
S&B seems to be the best not to throw the P0101 dtc code. Mass Air Flow sensor MAF. But stock airbox good for 500HP as I hear.
To improve mileage you will need to alter ECM tune and get rid of the DPF filter on the Exhaust and DOC. Then go turboback and use Edge Evo Race, PPE ++2 Hot Race, or Quad with DPF delete tune to get rid of the DPF regen. The ultimate programmer is EFILive but it comes with no tunes. But from some vendors and get a tune or 2 free. I went with Nick at DURAMAXTUNER.COM | Custom EFILive Tunes for Duramax powered GM Vehicles . Got 2 tunes from him with purchase. Other than EFILive I think the Edge unit is the only one that gets rid of turbo hiss.
I do the PPE air box mod. No cost to do. Goto PPE website and get instructions.
As to improved mileage it all depends on the tune and the engine. Let me put it this way. One may get better mileage with a 40HP tune and another guy may get worst on the same tune. Even if exactly the same and driven side by side. Now the guy with bad mileage may get great mileage on 90HP tune and the other guy who had good mileage on 40HP goes to a 90HP tune and his mileage may get worst. This trucks rolling off the lot can average 13mpg to 20mpg even if they are the exact same setup and driven exactly the same way. One never knows.

I have the air intake and a PPE, with both of them I get about 15.2 MPG (now that I have 40k miles) daily driving on the highest setting. For the past month I have not had any HP increase on my PPE and have seen my economy go down to 13.2.
I drive a lot in stop and go traffic and rarely over 65 on the highway.

can I remove the DPF filter and get a quad programmer and be good to go?
My buddy would like to reinstall the DPF when he goes back to the dealer.
which one is the dpf? I saw a muffler and then 2 cans (one I am assuming is a resonator) is one of those the DPF? could I cut it out and instal a flex pipe and then reinstall it with band clamps when it goes back to the dealer?
