Shift kit for lb7
I was trying to see some opinions on getting a full transgo shift kit for my lb7 5 speed. Was wondering what some of your opinions were on it. You think it will help with a 90-120 tune on my trans or not. Was looking for some cheap help for the tranny for now also thinking of getting the deep pan for the trans. Plan on full build just don't got the $ for it right now. Seen were someone said could install the valve body parts for now and save the clutches for later on the full build don't know what to think on this. Thought of buying the built valve body also and not messing with the transgo shift kit install. Any one have luck with either on the 5speed. Been trying to look up opinions on this to see goods and bad thoughts on it. Have not found enough threads on it to make up my mind on it yet. Any advice would be appreciated.

Yeah if your replacing the clutches in it. There's a section of the kit that just involves the valve body. I believe if I read things write. So if installing all the content to the kit then yes I would have to pull the whole thing. Not sure if that contradicts getting the full kit vs the transgo jr kit. Just seen how people were writing that the jr kit wouldn't work well on the 5 speeds. Why I'm wondering if just working on the valve body would benefit me or not or the whole route to the full build of the transgo kit. If that makes sense. Don't think you have to pull the whole tranny to mess with the valve body. Or do you? Thought you could just drop the pan and remove the bolts and clips holding the the valve body in to get to it? Trying to figure out if there is a cheaper route on the tranny holding some more power or not with out having to do a full build for now. Seen the 5 speed to 6 speed conversion kit but can't see spending that money to do so vs saving to spend to do a full rebuild. Appreciate any advice. Still learning on this stuff.

X2 on this. Check with the vendors, they can prob get you a nice rebuild kit
Yup, the small shift kit wont do you anything its a waste of money.
doing the full transo shift kit will help hold a little more power but the torque converter will give out on you.
and the amount of labor that goes into installing the full transgo its really a waste of time and money not to get the clutch upgrades while you are down there.

Yeah I think I'm going to have to waite though cuz it looks like a full build is going to be what I go with. Found a shop near by called crank it up diesels that does them. With baby on the way looks like my truck might have to waite alittle to get what it needs.
