Hello to all. I'm looking for some basic info to try to take my 2004 Duramax from stock to a 12 sec 1/4 daily driver. I have some things already started I've put in a 4" down pipe back exhaust system and a cold air intake onto my rig. I bought this truck with an Edge Juice w/ Attitude programer. Looking to get more power for less stress on the dollars.

until you beef the transmission you are about as far as you can go. and that will cost some money.

you will need an upgraded transmission, tie rod sleeves, lift pump, possibly a modded fpr and efi live to top it off.

and some other little tweaks but thats the bare necessities

We have tuned a lot of Duramaxes here at the shop. There are a lot of little things you can do to beef it up.

I would suggest getting rid of the Juice with Attitude and get yourself at least the Evolution Race from Edge. It has much higher power levels on it and the tuning is a lot more efficient than the Attitude tuning. Just a thought there.

I will tell you what we have done to our company truck here, it is an 06 LBZ.

We have run a combination of different tuners and programmers PPE Hot+ 2, EFI live, Edge Evo Race and a Bully dog once......for a very short time.

We dynoed the most horse power so far with the Evo Race on 7 we hit 539 with a stock transmission with only a Trans Go Jr shift kit. We installed the AFE upgraded intercooler pipes and the AFE turbo mouth piece. We are running a Banks Cold Air intake with scoop.

We tried and tested 4 different intakes and the Banks lowered our intake air temps to literally 8° above ambient air temperature. I generally don't like Bank's over priced junk but the intake was the best we tested on this particular truck.

We are running an Air Dog 2 lift pump and a magnaflow 4" exhaust with the Diamond downpipe. We did the PPE ported fuel rail fitting as well as the PPE CP3 inlet fitting. The Allison is a pretty stout transmission but anything over 100 horse above stock will put it into limp mode. The Trans Go Jr will give you a little more room to play before you need to do a full tranny build.

Like I said we are at 530 and it's holding strong.

Our engine is out right now getting built, when we get it back in the truck it will be right at 1000 horse on fuel only, and the only way to tune that much air and fuel will be with EFI, at that point we are going to do the PPE stage 5 trans with a Mike L converter.

Good luck with the truck and feel free to ask if you have any install questions in the future.
