Default Transmission upgrade

The next step for my truck has got to be a tranny.. My stock ally is hating life right now. I have it narrowed down to Suncoast, ATS, or Gorearend.. I been leaning towards a Gorearend... Any thoughts or advice would be awesome!!

We have had great luck with Suncoast on the Allison Transmissions.

Suncoast stage 4 is the way to go. I have had no issues with mine for nearly two years now. Its held up like a champ for everything I have put it through.

On a different note, what would you guys recommend for a truck that will have roughly 450 ponies to the wheels? whole tranny, or just TC, valve body and shift kit?

sorry for the stupid rookie question, but i am not too educated with trans

Suncoast is some of the best they have a nice D-max kit and for 450HP its not worth it to do the whole thing just the basic rebuild kit a TC (thats the weak link) and a shift kit

No, the TC is a weak link but not the main one. The C3 clutch pack is the weak link the ally tranny. I would recommend getting a P-2 Planetary Spacer, Modified C3 Pressure Plate, C3 Frictions & Steels, Converter Lockup valve and shift kit. You can all of that for about 650 bucks get 50 back in a core charge.

And Dodge Boy go back to where you belong.

Would it be wise to upgrade the TC as well, just for safe measure, or would I be wasting my money doing that as well???

Oh yes, do it at the same time. You dont want the old TC to mess with the fresh tranny.

and yes you are right about the forward clutches they do burn up if you do a shift kit and bump up the line pressure there is no need to replace the c3 pressure plate and replace that converter it is junk

AND THIS DODGE BOY KNOWS TRANNIES
