The redesigned compact sedan will be officially unveiled this fall at the Los Angeles show.

MONTGOMERY, Alabama — The redesigned 2011 Hyundai Elantra will be assembled at the Korean automaker's U.S. plant here, alongside the midsize Sonata, beginning in late fall. The new Elantra will be officially unveiled in November at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The new Elantra was introduced earlier this year in Korea, where it is called the Avante.

Hyundai said Elantra sales through August were up 21 percent from the previous year, while Sonata sales are up 50 percent from the same period.
