I believe the Cash for Clunkers program was a waste! Some vehicals were really "clunkers" but so many of them WERE NOT and people took advantage of that. I couldn't believe my brother turned in his '02 Silverado 4x4 (parents bought it for him brand-new in high school) for that but I'm glad the truck got parted out instead of crushed/melted, except for the motor which was fine before, ugh.
Anyways, acutally, a '97 Dodge sport edition truck was turned in for it and I also have one that I'm going to resale and I was able to get a transmission from that Cash for Clunkers truck to use for mine...and that truck that was turned in for the Cash for Clunkers is in better condition than mine!!
In Louisiana, the dealerships took the trucks/cars then auctioned them off to salvage yards but, most of the motors were crushed.
