Information NHTSA Investigating Fuel Tank Problem On 3 million 1993 to 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee S

The NHTSA is investigating a potential problem involving plastic fuel tanks in 1993 to 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs where the fuel tank can become a drastic fire hazard in the event of a collision' In serveral incidents, the fuel filler neck has also split open, leading to fuel spills and fires' 172 crashes involving fires and 254 deaths are being linked to the possible recall' A petition for the defect has been placed into effect' Owners are urged to contact Chrysler directly at 1-800-835-1403 or visit their local dealer as soon as possible to take a look at the problem' For more information visit www'safecar'gov '

Remember the Mercury Bobcat?? Almost the same issue, except the tank was on the *** end of the car.
