Japan To Offer Incentives For Diesel Cars
Japan considers introducing incentives for clean diesel cars.
21 August 2008: Japan is considering incentives for consumers buying clean diesel cars starting next fiscal year in a bid to reduce CO2 emissions, reports Reuters. Subject to the incentives would be diesel cars that meet the new Japanese emission standards which become effective in October 2009.

I wish this would happen in the US. The only problem I can see is that it would create a huge rush for diesel vehicles and fuel prices would sky rocket again. Might force the fuel companies to build a bigger capacity for diesel fuel though...
