Operation Shore Patrol Beach Cleanup: Sept 19/20, 2009
Ive been posting this event for the last couple years, but it always seems to land on a date when we have other things going on and we've never made it an "official" event.
Looks like this year the calendar is OPEN!
Fall shore patrol is mostly attended by the PNW4WDA, and when I used to go, was almost exclusively jeeps. However, the boyscouts, horse groups, and numerous other "vehicular challenged" attend also.
In the past, the state parks in the cleanup area would give free camping for the weekend, and the town of westport would put on a big parade, and a trailer decorating contest, and a huge chili feed and social.

There are 3 "regions" of beach that get cleaned.
Cape Disappointment (Long Beach area)
Ocean City (North Beach area, ocean shores)
Twin Harbors (South Beach area, westport)
Ive done the westport cleanup several times when we were part of the jeep club. This has been 15 years or more since we've done it.
Here is what I would like to do.
1. Get a bunch of diesel trucks together for a weekend
2. Go play on the beach and pick up some trash
3. Go show them jeeps who REALLY has more fun!
Consider it your Karmic duty to pay back for all that black smoke you belch out on hondas.
If I can get a good handful of ppl to show up, I will contact the PNW4WDA coordinator and ask how we can be the most useful. Im assuming trash bag pickup, as the jeeps cant haul that much. Tow some trailers and whatever broken jeep we find hahaha.
2wd trucks can participate too. Stick to the hard sand, and let a bunch of air out of your tires and you can go almost everywhere the 4wd trucks go.

historically, ppl show up for camping friday evening, and the cleanup activities are pretty well scheduled and scripted by the PNW4WDA and start at like 7 or 8 am, and go till 10pm or so sat evening.
