How hard were the MD Manifolds/Pipes? Might be better than going w/RDL Up Pipes.

RDL is Rick D Lance. Used to be on Diesel Place a lot. Spun off his own board. dmaxcentral.com. Medium duties are the ones from Kodiaks. Sounds like there are some firewall issues with them.

are they a straight through manifold like the bd? Why would there be firewall issues? Are the up pipes different also?

Straight through. They angle around the back of the head instead of the uppipe doing it. Different uppipes.

Knagel,
The medium duty up pipe is like the bd manifold as far as straight through but it is also larger on the inside with no lips at the opening of the port where it bolts to the head like the stock one. The stock up pipe on the drivers side is the biggest restriction as it has to many angels and crimps in it. Right where it bolts to the stock manifold it has to hit that bend and the angel again before it turns straight up then there is two kinks in it before it bends again to the pedastal. The medium duty one has one bend and thats the bend to the pedastal. The medium duty manifold has a sweeping bend that curves around the back of the engine. Problem there is the fire wall as a bump there you have to flatten which takes about 5 minutes to do. I got both sides and up pipes for $230 to my door. Far cheaper than the bd and better flowing. Not to mention there is more cast iron there to keep more heat in the exhaust system to help with velocity.

Good info, Steve. Do you have a source for them? I think I know where you could send two sets.

Up pipe was a bitch. The bottom bolt sucked. I didn't have a 1/4" breaker bar and a 12 point 12mm so I had to improvise.
