I recommend the testing van at Cole and Fairview in the Albertson's lot there on the corner. The guy's name is Ron and he works Wednesday through Saturday. He was really cool and let me do a lot of clean-out snaps. Plus the guy's not all cracked out looking like lots of the other folks. He was a really nice guy. We had both of our trucks tested there. The IDI got 12% out of the allowed 50%. That was after 4 "practice" snaps and 4 clean-out snaps.

So the diesel testing is basically a smoke test then? Stab the throttle and see how dark it gets?

It's kind of like a pre-dyno. They measure your HP by the amount of smoke and emmissions you dump out. So I've been told.

I think it's a sniffer test. My exhaust is broken up all underneath the truck and only one pipe goes out past the tire, but with a turn-down. So he couldn't just clamp the sniffer up there. He had his boss hold the sniffer back there during my clean-out snaps. He damn near disappeared the first one.
