hey everyone, i've been gone for a while and i hope a few of you still remember me... basically i got back from mexico city about 3 weeks ago or so and have been having a great time in the USA, upon my return i came across a 97 f350 PSD that i got for 1000 bucks not running.
After a good wash and a new battery cable i managed to get it to run but im getting white smoke out the exhaust consistently (but starts up with no problems), a rough idle that sounds like 1 cyl is dead and a LOT of blowby out the oil filler cap so im thinking im probably going to need new rings at the very least.
Anywho i've been meaning to sign up again for the site and here i am again, although saddened to hear the bad news, i hope to be a permanent fixture here again and still stay in touch with old friends, last but not least a couple of pics:
cheers! hope everyone had a new year.

hey everyone, sorry i havent posted more but im swamped with work at the moment and am running around on little sleep.
I was in mexico for a long time and i lost my internet connection when i was down but basically the impala wagon is going good, all the rust has been cut off and new sheetmetal has been welded, its ready to get primered and finally painted 2 tone, pearl top with blue at the bottom, i should be going back in about a month to see it get finished and reupholstered and have all new wiring done to it.
brother picked up a 56 belair in mexico which i drove back up to texas (thats a hell of a story by itself with breakdowns, hitchhiking etc) and father got a 57 , guess i got the bug in em so if anyones interested in those projects ill try to update as well.
The dodge got sold a while back and part of the money went towards getting the ferd (should've kept it perhaps)
Now here's for the bad: basically i got this problem child non running because the starter cable had "been chewed by a rat" which i later found to be cut, and at this point im getting a lot of blowby out the oil cap (set the cap and it falls off), constant white smoke out the tailpipe (i got the evolution tuner and when on performance its capable of smoking out my street) and feels like 1 cyl is missfiring or dead (rough idle) and for the cherry on top of the cake i broke a thermostat housing bolt when i replaced the thermo (truck also never got hot above the N in normal)
so... im thinking that it may need rings or most likely the whole thing is toast, im lost on this one folks.

YMMOT
White smoke is too much fuel = Injectors bad. It's probably getting hot because it is putting WAY too much fuel in to cylinders. Missing could also be related to the
IDM
.
You are probably right on the need for rings with the amount of blow by you are talking about. 7.3s have some blow by, but not THAT much.
Good luck
