Only need 4 digits to the left of the decimal point. I work with WM sales data all day so those numbers are tiny in comparison.

Curtis - I never should have given you a hard time about not using anti-seize on your injectors.
I am going to need a surgical nuke strike to get mine loosened up enough. Even by BFH won't budge it. That is a great feeling when you are working on a CNC'd aluminum head.

John close your eyes, take a good draw off the blue can to your left, swallow, reach over grab the biggest FN hammer in the box and give it one , just one really good swing. It will be fine. Should come right off.
GLAD I COULD HELP!

No blue can! Damn I knew I was forgetting something.
Got the head off tonight at least (I was dragging my feet about doing what needed to be done). I kept thinking the little gremlins that live in my garage after dark would eventually work their way around to attacking the injector. Instead I plugged in the angle grinder with a cutting wheel and did some redneck surgery on the lower valve cover mount. It is now a three piece design.
All the pistons and upper cylinder walls look perfect so I think the problem is either a wrist pin bushing or broken/cracked crankshaft main journal.

I would guess a main bearing? 96.3% sure (it's a #'s thing)
With that much hp & foot pounds being hammered at once, something is going to give.

I was wrong. All the bearings, crankshaft, billet parts, and block look perfect. Once I placed the pistons in a clean solvent bath I quickly saw the source. Tiny aluminum flakes off the piston. Easy to identify in clean solvent - not so much when trapped in oily filter media. Oh well - another great learning experience and a perfect excuse to dive off into more changes.

what would cause the pistons to flake off like that?...was it all of them or just 1?...and what part of the piston was flaking off the skirt or the top?
