No my friend. It's the fact that you knew this diesel was poorly tuned, you power breaked the truck at a stop light with this knowledge and smoked out another driver and then laughed about it...

Pretty unprofessional if you ask me... How would you like somebody driving your truck like a punk kid?

well i think the whole point of the story was that i didnt realize that it was going to do that, and that there happened to be a car with an open window right next to the exhaust pipe, i laughed at the situation because, what the hell else could i do, do you think i enjoy looking like a *****, driving a truck shooting out plumes black soot? i dont.. i dont do that with my diesel, and yes its un-professional, but what would be the professional way to drive a truck that shoots out black smoke at normal throttle? And i didnt drive it like a punk *** kid, I loaded up the engine with the brake, thats a normal procedure for checking for driveline issues and other things, power braking dosent always have to mean you roast/spin the tires. Either way i have read all sorts of posts on diesel forums over the years of people intentionally smoking out people and its always laughed off, and made into a joke. I suppose if i just said "i drove my buddies truck, and it smogged out some honda" then it would be all laughs.

Idk.... Maybe not powerbrake it at a stoplight where other cars are or could be...

If you knew it smoked at normal throttle, you knew it would smoke with the brake and accelerator held... And not even your truck, it's somebody who is paying you for a service and I doubt that included do whatever the hell you want with it while testing the work you did. You knew it smoked, you knew what you were doing at the light...

It's not funny, I used to love diesel power and now it's just about smoke and blowing smoke on the guy in the Prius... Pretty pathetic...

Anyways, congrats on the new job.

well thanks, i really didnt think about it because up until the point that i drove the truck i had not worked on it, i was walking outside and the guy who did the work asked me to test drive it as he was going to lunch, i hopped in it, pulled out onto the street , wasnt looking behind me to notice the smoke until the pissed off guy rolled up yelling at me (I was looking at he guages actually), at which point i saw the cloud behind me, and realzed what happened, and i didnt hurt the guys truck, i would not have a problem if someone did the same thing if it was my truck it was no different than pulling from a stop with a load. Maybe i shouldnt have used the term (power brake) but what ever.

Yeah, now that we know the place where they let soon to leave employees test drive trucks they didn't even work on, people who don't know how a tranny is supposed to shift. You know the ones who think blowing smoke on Camrys is funny. You know - that type? Sure won't be going there any time soon.

I wonder if Peterbuilt Iikes mechanics who do that type shyt? Shouldn't be hard to find their place of business now that we have a nearby ph#. Maybe send the manager a link - ya think???

go for it. You should try to get someone you have never met from another state fired over an internet post on a forum about something that happened that you didnt witness, so they cant pay their mortgage or feed their family. That would be really "professional"

i think ive maintained a pretty good attitude considering you basically called me an idiot, and threatened to go after my paycheck over a stupid incident in traffic, but hey ill take that. So does that tranny need a programmer or will it re-learn, cause as far as i know it runs on magic dust :P

Default Ah, the Joy of the Internet....

Sorry you took it that way.

Bragging on the Internet is kinda like arguing on the Internet:
