I bought a '75 Ford 250 Truck with a 1991 5.9 Cummins diesel. I've added a toolbox and steel plates to protect oil pan underneath so I've increased the weight a bit. I was towing a utility trailer the other day on a mild uphill grade and boost pressure shot to 15, boost temp to over 1000F and engine temp to 210. The radiator was flushed a year ago with new thermostat, and I have new injectors and injector pump. Could I have a compression problem? Also, after reading some blogs and different sites, could fuel boost pressure account for low performance? (I note lots of smoke on startup and it seems to experience some of the symptoms of low fuel pressure). Also, any diesel mechanics in the Portland, OR area that could provide me with advice and service would be appreciated... get in touch with me asap..
