7.3 ford or 6.6 chevy/gmc
Looking to purchase a somewhat low mile ford or chevy/gmc diesel. I am wondering what you guys think in terms of value for the money which is the better way to go.
My choices would be 02-03 7.3L Ford or and 06-07 (Classic) duramax. Duramax is more $$, but am wondering if you think its worth it. I love both trucks but was looking for some helpful advice on the two choices above. Also, looking for suggestions on where to look for sale outside of autotrader, cars.com and craigslist. Thanks |
well you prolly wont be able to find a low mile 7.3 very easily. but if you could I would go that way but Im a ford guy usually. I really dont like the way dirtymaxs sound

duramax. nooooooooo question.

Depends, do you want a good tough work truck with a solid front end or do you want a cushy ride and quite engine? What are you going to be using the truck for? Daily driving with occasional towing/hauling, tow rig, or are you looking for a high HP/TQ number rig?

Out of those 2 choices I would have to go 7.3 no other powerstroke though :c:

Thanks guys..........I will be using the truck as a daily driver but will also be using for occasional towing (4-6k lbs) and some hauling.
I wish I knew what a good price was on the 7.3's.....they seem to be a little spendy for an 8-10 year old truck right now at the places I've seen them. Is 90k mi a good time to purchase one of these? Trannies I heard can be an issue at the 100k mark especially if they have been used to pull. I just want to avoid dropping $20k on something that will need a bunch of maintenance soon. Thoughts?? |
Why no Cummins ?:humm:

I'm a die hard ford guy. But for a DD and towing, I would go with the Dmax with the 6 speed. If you plan on doing any off roading, go with ford.

The Cummins would be an option except that the crew cabs are too small. Once you get into the mega cab the trucks get too spendy for me to make sense. The Cummins motor would be the first choice for me engine wise.
