i have owned both trucks you are looking to get and would definitely go with the duramax. for a daily driver it is just so much more comfortable and i think it pulls better than the ford 7.3. certainly a lot smoother.

Tough task....I know....let me know your thoughts. |
the dmax has amazing power, bolt on queen, and the allison is just freakin amazing. I've driven 7.3s and a cummins with a stick and a goerend, and the allison was just as amazing the last time I drove one as the first time. The front end isn't as weak as its made out to be, and the powerstroke front end doesn't hold up like a kingpin D60. The 7.3 is good for some miles, but if your deciding between the 2, I think the duramax is definately the way to go.
Get an LLY if you can, or an LB7 that had all injectors replaced under recall. If you can't find either, its not that bad, thats just the only problem the duramax has had. The only real downside is the $$$$ required to lift it. Power its a no brainer and with proper tuning people are pulling some crazy MPGs with proper tuning. |
Get a LBZ.

i wouldnt do a ford they naturally drag ass no offense 5.9Bronco... an duramax there ok i like them but watch your drive shafts an cummins is the real deal so id get a dodge just my opinion
|
yeah the 7.3 wouldn't even be an option to me if the Duramax is also an option, better power, better transmission, chances of still having a warranty, and best ride out there sure some will argue, but they're in denial
