Iveco is top of the line world class company.Their so big they bailed on the U.S. back during the first big diesel EPA crap. Its too bad they make all classes of trucks,4x4 cabover tractors rite down to a 1 ton. They make the Daily thats a small cabover pickup, kinda like the old vans with the motor between the seats.Go to you-tube and enter Iveco Daily 4x4 that truck would sell BIG in the U.S. but they will never come here.I looked into getting one shipped here but its just about impossible to do.I guess cus they get 30+ mpg and EXXON wouldnt like that.

well, i bought it. i'm using the iveco drivetrain and putting a 1940 ford 1 ton body on it. Then engine looks so much like a cummins it's scary! the head flows the opposite way though; intake and exhaust are reversed.
The IP is a Ve pump, so at least I can turn that up right away and make some power! I'm hoping some injectors for a 1st gen will work too.
It's non IC, so i will plumb in my own IC.
it has a factory installed engine driven air compressor and a exhaust brake too!

yeah iveco built their engines under guidance from cummins that's why minelooks just like a 6bt except with intake and exhaust reversed.
can't wait to get everything home and start cutting!

What year is it? I had dealings with a 1991 and had nothing but trouble with it! Valves had issues, the truck had electrical issues, and no power. the Fiat corporation paid the balance of the warranty on it. I believe I was an isolated case tho. A friend of mine had the next model year with no problems except power he a non turbo.

I use to work for them as well until they pulled out . Engines were pretty durable trannies as well . On some models there was a cold start solenoid that we would hook a twelve volt switched lead that if actuated while driving would allow the pump to go past its full fuel setting and pick up some power and about 500 to 700 more rpm . Post some pics up of it and maybe i can tell if yours has it or not . we use to use it to pass when I delivered trucks from the Philly depot to Louisiana. Did yours come out of a tilt cab truck or interior acessed engine. Iveco also at the time had set some diesel speed records with there marine engines . It has been many years since I even touched but will try and help with any questions you have . Pm any questions .

Re read your original post and answered my own question 89 should be from an interior acess cab and may not have used the cold start solenoid.
