are you replacing a vehicle with this truck?? if so you may be able to take the plates off the old vehicle(as long as they are current) put them on the truck and have the bill of sale. IDK about other states, but in Indiana, you have 30 days to get the registrations transferred to the new vehicle.
or, if you happen to have a friend that is a car salesman, see if he can write up a temp tag. not exactley legal, but it would do until you got it transferred... jsut dont get caught.

I appreciate the comments guys. At this point there is nothing I can do about it permit wise, so I guess I'm posting the bill of sale on back window and going for it. I do have documentation that I tried getting permits in all of the states involved and until or if I get back to Illinois no one will issue anything.

X2 not that it counts in this situation but in tx ok and ks its like that, 30 days on old vehical tag as long as its current and theres a bill of sale verifying the purchase date.

Hmmmm. Titled in NY, living in WVa, transaction in PA?
I don't think I'd even get involved with that at all. Sorry, I'm sure it's all perfectly legitimate, just don't like the sound of it.
Then again, it could be stolen. Get caught driving that somewhere west of the Ohio river, sure would suck to be you.

Hi all,
special thanks to Budgreen for the ohio advice. I showed the registered owners all the posts and they agreed to let me keep the plates for the drive home. I saw so many active state police along the way I know we probably would have been detained for sure. We are home now and the work can begin. developed a major oil leak and took about 6 gallons of oil to make the drive. Needless to say the bottom of the truck will probably never rust...
