I am really dumbfounded on how to re-license the truck under a different weight...it says 37,000lbs right there on my title and on the door jam tag...so how you suppose to go around that obstacle?

Thats the max GVW on the door tag, you can register it for whatever you want just don't get caught on the scales with more than your registered weight on or you'll get a ticket

I feel stupid...if the GVW already exists on the title, how you gonna convince DMV that you promise never to carry that kind of weight?...I honestly did try to convince the DMV that I was only using the truck for private personal use and I don't own a business and didn't want to go thru all the DOT and weight distance tax BS but the DMV still says that they have to go by the titled weight...again, my title clearly states 37,000lbs....how am I suppose to walk in and say I want to re-register this truck for 26,000lbs to avoid paying WDT?

I am all ears

Well New Mexico may be a whole different ballgame than here in NY, here the registered owner tells dmv how much they want to register it fior up to the max GVWR

WOW!!...it must be nice to have that kind of power over a state run department...I wish I could get away with that here

So I wanted to add that the truck is now road ready and I did make $200 bucks with it already...all I did was park it next to a house and they thru a roof in the back...I came back the next day and drove it to the dumps and only got out of the truck to remove the tarp, unloading was a breeze...only cost about $8 bucks in fuel...not bad for just driving the truck to the dumps which cost me nada to dump.

I still have a lot of work to do on the interior though I did get all the gauges working and all lights working...I installed 2 new mud flaps and some DOT tape on the rear box...I still have to build my new bed which I will not start until next summer...I am hoping to have some sort of shop by then so I will have a place to work...my plan is to bring in 3 semi trailers and set them on the ground in a U-shape, then build a roof top to cover the working area and have 2 large doors that will open up for air flow...this design will give me plenty of work space and also give me plenty of storage and tool room space.

I would take some more pics of the truck and post them up but it still basically looks the same...I am hoping I will get some work done on the interior this winter is my goal....new dash, I did install some newer seats from a SS Monte Carlo that have full power adjustment...they look killer...I still have to build a center console and install a nice sound system overhead in a custom box...thanx for all the support and check back soon as I will get some newer pics up soon.

Remember to keep the rubber side down!

When are you gonna swap out the rotary pump to a P-pump with 400cc's?

How much HP can I gain from this mod?

And how much will this mod cost me?

Hard to say exact hp, but I'd guess 500+hp.
Does it really matter what it costs?
A used P-pump is about $500, upping the cc is roughly $200, pump adaptors(gear, hub, and adaptor) are around $400, injector lines, a couple hundred, a better turbo is $200-5000. Buying used saves a ton of money, especially if you shop on pulloff.com's classifieds.

That sounds like a few grand I don't have at the moment...I do have a new turbo from a Russian uni-mogg diesel v8...it is a t4 that is way bigger then the one on the DT466...I have inquired about doing a twin turbo setup with no success on any replies so I figured I would wait until someone else did one first...the P-pump sounds like a nice power upgrade but will hold off until funds become more available...I really need to get my shop rolling first right after I finish my new flatbed upgrade

What ever happened to this thread....it kind of fell off the face of the earth. Too bad, I was researching the forum for just this exact set up since I have a IH S2150, DT 466 dump truck as well and wanted to see how his turned out......I am having a bear of a time getting the gauge cluster to work. Mine is licensed and roadworthy but failed this years DOT inspection because I cannot get the high beam indicator to work. It worked last year but as old as this truck is I expect little things to go wrong. It is a 1981 and weighs in at about 14800 pounds but I licensed it for right at 25,999 GVW to keep it under the commercial weight limit because it has air brakes. I am looking for a gauge cluster but can't seem to find one anywhere. Any ideas on how to solve the high beam indicator problem? Thanks and glad I found this site.
