Default Autometer problems

So I took out all the Banks gauges and 6 gun yesterday. I had a set of cobalts waiting to get installed. Got everything in and the EGT's won't read past 600*. It is responsive up to there, but pegs at 600. The probe is new but the gauge isn't. Bought it used from somebody on another site. Thoughts? Gauge crap on me?

Is it the right wires and probe for the guage, and are the wires intact or have they been cut to change the length would be the most obviuos issues.

My Autometer Z-series pyrometer crapped out on me a few months ago.

It wouldn't sweep right; it was jerky instead of smooth.

I sent it to them along with a note describing the problem and giving my return address, and put "ATTN: REPAIR" on the box; they sent me a brand new one in a box two weeks later complete with a new thermocouple and wiring. I was very surprised.

I think that they had a bad batch and were trying to maintain a some-what good name. I don't know about yours since it's a different problem, but it's worth the shot to send it in. It should only be a few tens to get it repaired at any rate.

Nope already been down that road....

Got the right one, but found the problem just now.

Installer error... The pyroleads weren't seated in the harness good. When I would plug it in the back of the gauge they were pushing those 2 wires out of the harness.

All is good now

HMM kinda like forgetting to tighten a air line? I have done that.

YEah was in a hurry last nite, and didn't try to hunt anything down. Did somethin else stupid on install but we won't bring that up....
