I'm looking into getting the wife a new vehicle. I was looking at diesel Suburbans or diesel Excursions. What would be a better choice ? Overall which one of the two is more dependable and durable ?

 

the 6.5 in the burban can be made reliable with a couple hundred bucks. It's never going to be fast though.
The 7.3 powerstroke is considered a pretty good motor, but ford usually doesn't get the reliability rep.

 

So the 6.5 is better than the 6.2 ? Are they the same motor just one's bored out ?

 

Excursion for sure get one with a 7.3L

As much as i dislike Fords if your looking for a big suv with a diesel the 7.3 is the only way to go. Nothing wrong with that motor.

Suburban is a better truck, 7.3 is a better engine. Decide what you want to spend the money on, fixin the engine or everything else LOL.

To answer your question, I would go with the Excursion, OR...a gas Suburban...my last one was at 360,000 kms all original, sold it and its still going...
