1st gen cummins vs 2ndgen (12 valve)
#2
Several small improvements in the motor, nothing major.
Biggest improvement in the automatic transmission was the addition of overdrive, as well as many other improvements (so I'm told). The manual transmission was changed from an Getrag G360 to a New Venture NV4500, which most (not all) say is a better unit.
I think that they changed the transfer case?
I don't think there's a consensus on which one has a better front end or steering system. I wouldn't know never having been around a second gen front end.
Interiors are totally different; second gen is much more "modern". First gens have vent windows. Wiring is totally different; I imagine that it's a bit higher quality on the second gens, in addition to there being more of it in general.
They changed from vacuum boost to hydroboost brakes in '94, right?
