Then, I have 4 trucks total. I'm only 18 and I already got to finish up 2 trucks and a 4-wheeler. School is about to start to and I have a race coming up, so I don't have time. I want a '99-'02 3/4 to do a conversion, nothing older and that's why I'm not going to dump money into a truck for a conversion that really isn't what I want. I'm on a budget for sure.

those old army cuccv with the 6.2 and turbo 400 would be a bad *** off road truck. 4,56 gears and rock solid drivetrain. a little more than 500 bucks though

Only thing you have to look out for on those Ex-military trucks is you have to remember a lot of them were driven and beaten like red headed step children. Not to scare you away from them cuz there are some good ones out there and from time to time you can find them with 5spd's in them too. I would love to find an old cucv with a 5spd in it just to use as an offroad toy.

to be honest, a diesel is not very good for off roading at all. been there done that haha. they are way to heavy and just sink in whatever you are drivin on. just get a cheap gas truck like a toyota, you can get them dirt cheap.

diesels do GREAT on the rocks. yes, mud they suck. but rocks, hillclimbs ect the are wonderful. i love mine for wheeling. and if u do wheel a diesel, better have at least a 10000 lb winch on it. u will need it. also expect to be the recovery team for smaller vehicles.

My cousin bought an old gov issue blazer from an auction was 24volt and all did a 12v conversion and never had any problems with it he paid $600.00 for it in 2000 and its still going had like 30k something on it and now has close to 100k and if the military didnt beat the hell out of it he sure did but yea for climbing it was great but in the snow or mud phhsh more than one time we had to be rescued by a tractor heavy damn thing. but he definatly got his moneys worth out of it.
