Default Aluminum Stack?

ive got a piece of 6in. aluminum pipe bout a 1/4 in. thick. i was woundering if it could stand upt to the heat of a diesel becuse i was thinkin of making a stack from it. thanks

Unless it's an actual piece designed for heat over the long haul it wouldn't take it. It would turn white, brittle and eventually crumble. There is different alloy mixtures they use in aluminum just like in stainless and just a piece of general use aluminum wouldn't take it.

i have no idea i found it some where. i would think it would be to weak but idk. i was guna paint it with hi temp flat black paint

i dont see how it could hurt even if it did fall apart, so why not?

y would u use aluminum pipe, if ur gonna paint it? one way u could, u could put a 5 inch pipe inside to keep the higher heat out of it. good luck

If it's that thick of walled pipe it's gotta be a general purpose type aluminum. Because of the cost factor involved in the heat resistance tubing it's almost always thin walled stuff like exhaust pipes.
