Aluminum Stack?
ive got a piece of 6in. aluminum pipe bout a 1/4 in. thick. i was woundering if it could stand upt to the heat of a diesel becuse i was thinkin of making a stack from it. thanks
Unless it's an actual piece designed for heat over the long haul it wouldn't take it. It would turn white, brittle and eventually crumble. There is different alloy mixtures they use in aluminum just like in stainless and just a piece of general use aluminum wouldn't take it.
If it's that thick of walled pipe it's gotta be a general purpose type aluminum. Because of the cost factor involved in the heat resistance tubing it's almost always thin walled stuff like exhaust pipes.
