Don't care what others do- start with yourself, it's called self discipline. You can't
expect others to do things right.

I don't have any problems with blowing smoke in competitions.
But knowing the fact that black smoke is simply wasted unburned fuel makes me wondering a bit. Even tanks with 2000hp and huge turbos mounted on them don't smoke at all. A tuner not using all possible power hasn't done his homework.

I hear that being tailgated thing so often.
Get off the throttle and pull over. Let those idiots pass. Ignore them. If you start to smoke, they don't talk about you- they always talk about "that smokin' trucks". Minority damages the image of the majority. Thank you...
The Diesel revolution just has started. Don't let it die.
true, but it goes both ways.. some people blow smoke, and it gives the whole community a bad rap. some people decide to be arrogant and not use the bike path, tha gives the whole community a bad rap. im starting to see a pattern...to me, not using the bike path is a bit more serious offense, seeing as how it can directly effect many people, and immediate danger is involved.

Under Federal and State traffic laws, bicycles are legally entitled to use the road as they are classified as vehicles. Helps to know the law first....

I can already hear my mother in the background, "So that makes it ok for you to act as stupid as them?"

yes we all understand this but they built a bike path to improve the saftey of the roads and of the biker. if they aren't going to use it then thats money thats just gone to waste for creating it and maintaining it. and if you hit a biker it effects your life as well. i dont think i could ever get over killing somebody on accident.

Some years back I bought a bike and was gonna start ridin to and from work since it was only a few miles down the road. My first day of that was also my last, them drivers are crazy. Not just a diesel jockey's but all of em. I couldn't even tell ya how many times I came within inches of cars passin me that never did slow down or move over even that few inches. No way, never again.

By the way I wasn't new to biking either, years back I used to put over 200 miles a week on a bike till my knee's got to bad to do it and I don't remember havin any issues with traffic back then.

Yeah, it's really disheartening. Some cities and townships are far worse than others.

The interesting thing is that in cities with more cyclists per capita the number of collisions is actually far lower than in cities with fewer cyclists per capita. Basically - the more people who ride in a city, the safer the cyclists are.

It's too bad you can't ride anymore. 200 miles/week is solid! You must have been pretty fit.

Alas, this is probably too far off topic....

think about it though the cities with more bikes are bigger cities that you cant drive a car in anyways. take nyc for example how many cars are up there that aren't taxi's. the less the bikes the more the cars to run over them. plus its likely to be more rural (if that makes sense)

that may be true, but are they really street legal? do they have blinkers, windsheild wipers, seat belts, tailights, headlights? and if they are a "vehicle" they need to abide by the same laws. IE: stopping at stop signs, yeilding to traffic, and being a concious/safe driver of said vehicle...

very true.. especially since if the correct precautions are taken and if there are other options.. bu if they choose to ride on the road, and not on a bike path that was made for their saftey and mine, yet they still think they own the road something bad is bound to happen. there is no way they will win against a smart car, my truck or any other road worthy machine that is meant for the road.. again, you dont see me driving o nthe bike path acting like i own it

**im not calling out all bikers here, but yopu see how easy it is to do so? its the ones that ride 4+ wide, on a busy, curvy, blind road, slow down traffic and act like they own the road. not stopping at stop signs, not yeilding. idk how many times ive had to slam on my brakes, and lay on my train horn to elt them know. only to get the shoulder shrug. in my stat, they have to abide by the same laws as car. meaning yeilding, and stopping and so on.
