Excessive black smoke is the 2nd most stupid thing one can do as a diesel owner.

The 1st, is referring to anybody who thinks the above as a "tree hugger."

Our ISX powered Kenworth will outpull and out mileage our old hot rod 444 powered Pete any day of the week.

The ISX makes 565 horsepower with ZERO smoke...all you see is the heat waves.

The 444 makes about 50-75 horsepower less and blocks out the sun.

They both haul logs.....so, yeah, I guess I am a tree hugger.....I love to hug money.

Don't be ignorant.

yea i dont think any of the new transfer trucks smoke at all anymore. i understand the fact about smoke is loosing horsepower. but honestly how many people would have a diesel if it didnt smoke (recreational not work). thats what atracts everybody. mine doesn't throw clouds of black out but it will leave an intersection or anybody behind me at night covered in a fog. and thats not gettin in it either its not good for the environment but the only thing that gets bad reps is when people start blowing it everywhere they go. just like any gasser that revs up and spins a little tire. everybody judges everybody.

and how can you just get a ticket for blowing smoke some just do it period. thats like giving a ticket for your car being ugly. i could see if your just gunning it everywhere you go. but seriously

1. People who want a large, heavy truck to do work and get decent fuel mileage.
2. People who want a large, heavy truck for safety and want decent fuel mileage.
3. People who own other large pieces of diesel equipment and don't want to mess with two different fuel bills.
4. People don't want a large, heavy truck but want great economy. (VW, MB, etc)
5. People who want a vehicle that will last a very, very long time.

I bet you money that "smoke" is way down on the list....unless of course you're a kid.

im not callin any one a tree hugger or anythin of the like. all i am sayin is that some not all of the people on here sayin how diesels are gettin a bad wrap because of a$$ holes smokin out intersections and such were those guys at one point in time wether they will admit it or not is another story but each and everyone of us has done this at one point on purpose or not. lets face it a ricer pulls up beside u at a red light revvin his engine thinkin he is the coolest thing since sliced bread thinkin its a truck i got this even if u resist the urge at that point in time u still have that in the back of ur head what happens then is at ur discretion. im as guilty as anyone and ill admit it what im sayin is chit happens. it is a problem we are causin ourselves but we cant go around sayin it on this site we actually gotta tell people when we see it happenin. ok i guess im "that guy" that admits he still will smoke someone out if the need would arise but the secret is controllin it im gettin better but i still needa every now and then sorry everybody

All good man no harm around here in statin' opinions.

Unfortunately diesels will smoke even when it's unintentional.....the general uneducated (about diesels) public can't tell the difference, but even they can figure out when someone is doing something out of malice.

Even more unfortunate are the ones who do it yet just don't seem to care....living for the short term.

There's a reason so many off road areas are closed, why so many great hunting and fishing areas are now closed, why all the timber companies have started locking their gates 364 days out of the year......and it's due to the small minority of morons who have done things to ruin it for the majority.

let me try and restate what i meant here... anyone that sees the black smoke, will call it out and forever give the trucks a bad rap.... now i know plenty of diesels that dont smoke, banks dakota, few semi's, stock deisels, ups trucks, fed ex trucks, school busses, and other modded ones. just b/c a few people have trucks that smoke, doesnt mean that you need to call out the entire community on it... hope that clears things up

My truck smokes pretty good I guess but I don't like to make it smoke beyond what it does anyway because I'm too lazy to clean my back wheel and side of my truck of soot (spelling?). (my truck's white) I hate it when my wheels get dirty.
