How long is to long to idle?????
#12
I worked for a Chrysler Dealer ship as a service advisor when i had my 98.5 and flashed it for the 3 cylinder idle. I found out it would not work if you had a remote starter installed. Both of my trucks have had a remote starter. The Bully Dog is suposed to work through the cruise control but no luck with it! Can I load a Smarty tune with a Bully Dog down loader? Confused here!!!!

a old Ford 250 with a IDI that I used to have for a plow truck idled at 1000 rpm for 4 days in the middle of a ice storm that knocked out our power, we used the truck to run a inverter and keep the furnace on (before the wood stove and a backup generator) and I have idled my 12 valve for 2-3 hours while waiting in line to be loaded at the Dayton GM plant to keep the heat on

I let my 94 7.3 PS idle almost all day one time. It was a couple years ago and it stayed below freezing for two whole days, big deal for here. But we had a real bad ice storm, vehicals had anywhere from 1-3in thick ice on them. Took me 15min with a hemmer and ice pick to get in my truck, then 20 min to get it fired cuz the power had been knocked out so no block heater. Let it idle till I could the ice off the windshield, to the store, idle, lunch, idle, home, idle. I think its ok to idle for extended periods if you dont do it all the time, and that on occasion is ok. High idle helps.
