Default black smoke?

i was told that the black smoke witch is unburnt diesel (i know that) burns its self out in the atmosphere is that true?

It's actually not smoke, it's ash that settles back to the ground and is washed away no different then any ash from a fire. The problem from what we call smoke isn't the reality of very little of it is contributing to greenhouse gasses but the public perception of what it is and no matter how you look at things public perception is what counts in this world.

Black smoke doesn't belie a great increase in greenhouse gases, but it is an indication of a very large amount of very small particulates and unburned hydrocarbons, both of which are carcinogens and cause respiratory problems.

It's just like smoke from a fire, but since when is smoke from a fire something good to inhale in any quantity?
